“Culturally we have a love affair with alcohol. Apart from the physical risks that go along with heavy alcohol consumption,… there’s the alcohol-related trauma,” he said. Dr Rowan, the state president of the AMAQ, said the cost of alcohol abuse was a huge public health issue. “Lost days from work, facial traumas, depression, domestic violence and relationship breakdowns are just a few of the side effects,” he said.
